5th Capital Medical University International Young Scholars Forum Invitation Overview
Capital Medical University (CMU), in partnership with the Chinese Institutes for Medical Research (CIMR), Beijing, and supported by the Beijing Overseas Talents Center, is pleased to announce the 5th International Young Scholars Forum. This event aims to foster knowledge exchange among outstanding global talent in life sciences and medicine. With collaboration from Tianjin Medical University and Hebei Medical University, the forum is dedicated to promoting innovative development in biomedical science and technology across the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
First held in 2020, the forum has grown in popularity and impact. This year’s event will include both online and in-person participation. Activities will range from academic presentations, panel discussions, sub-forum meetings, to campus tours and networking opportunities—all aimed at advancing scholarly engagement, talent acquisition, and innovation within the fields of biomedical science.

Forum Theme and Schedule
The theme of this year’s forum is “Talents Gathered, Future Created,” focusing on building a strong and innovative faculty aligned with Capital Medical University’s vision for the future. The forum will be comprised of a main forum and 31 sub-forums across various disciplines, with an emphasis on academic advancement and talent recruitment.
Main Forum
The main forum will be held on November 5, 2024, at the Academic Conference Hall on CMU’s Youanmen Campus. The session will include speeches from university leadership, information on Beijing’s talent policies, invited presentations, and experience sharing by young scholars. Participants around the globe are welcome to join the live webcast.
Sub-Forums and Talent Meetings
Sub-forums will take place from November 5 to 7, focusing on specific disciplines, academic exchanges, and policy briefings. Talent meetings with young scholars will occur on November 6 and 7, providing valuable guidance for candidates seeking to apply to the Beijing Talent Recruitment Support Program. Scholars will also have the opportunity to visit the CMU campus and see facilities such as the central laboratories and university history museum.
Participation and Application Details
- Domestic scholars can attend either online or in person, while international scholars will participate online.
- Invited domestic participants will receive travel and accommodation support (economy class airfare and reimbursement based on actual expenses).
Eligibility Requirements
Introduced Talents: Candidates must hold or be about to complete a doctoral degree and have at least two years of research or work experience abroad, demonstrating significant academic achievements.
International Postdoctoral Candidates: Applicants must have completed a doctoral degree at one of the top 100 universities on the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) list within the last three years. Candidates should also be under 35 years of age and have an outstanding research record.

Support Policies
Capital Medical University
- Appointments: Successful applicants will be jointly appointed by CMU and CIMR. Talents will serve as teaching and research faculty members and as principal investigators of independent laboratories.
- Compensation: Competitive salaries, research startup funding, operational support, and technical assistance will be provided.
- Team Building: Support in building research teams, recruiting postdoctoral fellows, and enrolling graduate students will be available. Additional services include assistance with housing, family employment, and schooling for dependents.

High-level talents joining Tianjin Medical University or Hebei Medical University will receive generous research funds, competitive salaries, housing subsidies, and other benefits, with details dependent on the position level and individual qualifications.
