Structure of the Competitive Examination:
- Translation Paper (English to Hindi or Recognized Language):
- Marks: 100
- Description: Candidates will translate passages from sources such as press communiques, articles, government resolutions, legislations, rules, and instructions into Hindi or another language recognized by the Constitution. This section also includes the explanation of common expressions and idioms used in these compositions.
- Translation Paper (Hindi or Recognized Language to English):
- Marks: 100
- Description: Candidates must translate passages from press articles, speeches, etc., into English or another recognized language.
Note: Each written paper has a time limit of 3 hours. Marks may be deducted for poor handwriting.
- Viva-Voce:
- Eligibility: Candidates who achieve the minimum qualifying marks in the written examination, as set by the Commission, will be invited for a personality test or interview.
- Marks: 25
- Additional Notes: The Commission may award grace marks, up to one mark per paper and up to three marks in total. They may also set lower minimum qualifying marks for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes candidates in the written examination. The scores from the interview, along with any grace marks awarded, will be added to the candidate’s total score from the written tests.
