About GATE 2025
The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a prestigious national-level exam that evaluates candidates’ comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, Arts, and Humanities. GATE scores are utilized for admission to Master’s and Doctoral programs and recruitment by Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs).

GATE 2025 Eligibility Criteria
Before applying for GATE 2025, candidates should ensure they meet the eligibility criteria. Candidates currently in the 3rd year or higher of any undergraduate degree program or those who have completed a government-approved degree program in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, Arts, or Humanities are eligible for GATE 2025.

- Candidates with B.Sc., B.A., or B.Com. degrees (3-year program) seeking admission to Masters programs in IITs and IISc are also eligible.

Test Paper Structure
- Language: All test papers will be in English.
- Total Marks: Each paper is for a total of 100 marks.
- General Aptitude (GA): Common for all papers, 15 marks.
- Respective Test Paper Syllabus: 85 marks.

Important Information
- Candidates must familiarize themselves with the paper code as it is required both during application and examination.
- Single Application: Each candidate should fill ONLY ONE application. If they wish to appear in a second paper (from the two-paper combination), they can add the respective paper to their original application. In case of multiple applications, only one will be accepted and the remaining applications will be rejected without any refund for the paid fee.

GATE 2025: Photograph and Signature Requirements
Photograph Requirements
For the GATE 2025 application, candidates must upload a high-quality, color passport-size photograph adhering to the following specifications:
- Dimensions: 3.5 cm (width) x 4.5 cm (height)
- Face Coverage: The face should cover 60-70% of the photograph
- Background: White, without any objects or persons
- Face View: Frontal face view, looking directly at the camera, showing the forehead, eyes, nose, and chin
- Accessories: No caps, hats, sunglasses, or colored glasses; normal spectacles for vision correction are allowed without glare
- Format: JPEG/JPG
- Aspect Ratio: Minimum 0.66, maximum 0.89
- Resolution: Maximum 530 x 690 pixels, minimum 200 x 260 pixels
- File Size: Minimum 5 kB, maximum 1 MB
- Clarity: The face must be clearly visible without any cloth or shadow
- Head Coverings: Allowed only for religious reasons, but the facial features from the bottom of the chin to the top of the forehead and both edges of the face must be clearly visible
Signature Specifications
Candidates must upload a high-quality image of their signature according to the following specifications:
- Color: Black or dark blue ink
- Format: JPEG/JPG
- Aspect Ratio: Height

- Coverage: The signature should cover 70-80% of the image area after cropping
- Resolution: Maximum 580 x 180 pixels, minimum 250 x 80 pixels
- File Size: Minimum 3 kB, maximum 1 MB
- Authenticity: The signature must be signed only by the applicant. It must match the signature provided during the examination.
Important Notes
- Photographs and Signatures: Both must adhere strictly to the specified criteria. Samples of acceptable and unacceptable photographs and signatures are provided.
- Rejection and Fees: Non-compliant photographs or signatures may lead to rejection of the application without a refund.
- Matching: The signature at the time of the examination must match the uploaded signature to avoid disqualification.
